Noblesse Oblige focuses on targets that they view as repressive or oppressive, be they corporate or state. Their programs and ops are usually designed to leave little trace, and often have secondary goals that serve a more altruistic purpose – serving the true chivalric ideals “to protect people that need protecting from those who would exploit them.”

Good investments and siphons that have been working for decades, or longer, have left them very financially secure. While hard to verify, there are some indications that this organization has been present since long before the notion of nobility and knighthood fell out of popularity. This type of ‘generational wealth’ allows the faction to be self-directed in their actions, without fear of repercussions affecting their income flow. There are fewer than 30 fully recognized members, but about a hundred or so individuals are loosely affiliated with the group.

Semi-anarchic in structure, each full-fledged member is awarded a signet ring with an encrypted NFC tag incorporated into its design (earning this group the nickname ‘signets’). These members may have one or more ‘squires’ assigned to them, who are members in training. Each signet is individually empowered to follow pursuits and causes they deem necessary. A council of at least twelve signets can be convened to make major decisions, though this is normally done to evaluate potential members or, in rare cases, discipline signets. These councils are usually done in person. It’s believed that the structure of this organization was designed around King Arthur’s court.

The NFC-capable signet rings that full members are issued can be used to verify their identities and unlock secure physical or digital locks (such as those on a mobile phone or NFC-enabled laptop). The organization keeps their data distributed both in digital and physical forms, and there is a significant amount of this data that has never been digitized. Mercenary forces or privately hired detective agencies are often employed when physical presence is needed. Additionally, Noblesse Oblige is known for bribing or otherwise incentivizing police or security forces, as well as civilians.
